چکیده
Seismic vulnerability of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings is strongly influenced by beam-column joints. Horizontal and vertical structural members converge in joints, as extremely delimited areas where the internal forces core reinforcing bars have elevated stress gradients. In order to fully understand seismic behavior RC related failures T- X-shaped joints (external corner internal-positioned), an analytical model joint proposed a unified simplified way. The equilibrium equations cracked portions allow assessment stresses’ evolution at increasing values column shear forces. this way, strength hierarchy evaluated terms capacity for different potential failure modes. This can drive, useful tool designers, design new efficient structures or existing ones occur, with subsequent interventions move initial undesired mode more suitable one. Nearly 500 experimental results tests available literature are compared predictions model.

Fragility Functions for Older Rc Beam-column Joints
A critical step in performance-based seismic design is the prediction and definition of earthquake performance using terms that are meaningful to building owners. Recently, economic impact, defined as the cost of repairing earthquake damage and the building downtime required to complete the repair work, has been adopted as a meaningful measure of building performance. To enable earthquake engin...
متن کاملModified Bouc-Wen model for hysteresis behavior of RC beam-column joints with limited transverse reinforcement
An analytical approach based on modified Bouc-Wen-Baber-Noori model has been proposed in this paper for predicting the hysteresis behavior of reinforced concrete beamcolumn joints with limited transverse reinforcement. The analytical model presented in this research is able to capture the characteristics of non-seismic detailed beam-column joints such as stiffness and strength degradation and p...
متن کاملPeriod Formulas for Moment-resisting Frame Buildings
Most seismic codes specify empirical formulas to estimate the fundamental vibration period of buildings. Evaluated first in this paper are the formulas specified in present US codes using the available data on the fundamental period of buildings “measured” from their motions recorded during eight California earthquakes, starting from the 1971 San Fernando earthquake and ending with the 1994 Nor...
متن کاملA Simplified Modal Pushover Analysis-based Method for Incremental Dynamic Analysis of Regular RC Moment-resisting Frames
Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) procedure is now considered as a robust tool for estimating the seismic sidesway collapse capacity of structures. However, the procedure is time-consuming and requires numerous nonlinear response-history analyses. This paper proposes a simplified Modal Pushover Analysis (MPA) procedure for IDA of RC moment-resisting frames. The proposed method uses the dynamic...
